A group of working adults got together to visit their University lecturer. The lecturer was happy to see them. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
The Lecturer just smiled and went to the kitchen to get an assortment of cups - some porcelain, some in plastic, some in glass, some plain looking and some looked rather expensive and exquisite.
The Lecturer offered his former students the cups to get drinks for themselves.
When all the students had a cup in hand with water, the Lecturer spoke:
"If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal that you only want the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all you wanted was water, not the cup, but we unconsciously went for the better cups."
"Just like in life, if Life is Water, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold/maintain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change."
"If we only concentrate on the cup, we won't have time to enjoy/taste the water in it."

I am not an avid reader yet but i started reading since others did. I cud not remember my first book but I could say some which pinned in me some inspirations.
Vanthaargal Vendraargal -- by Madhan. This tamil book is about Moghul history and i request all tamilians to read atleast the first chapter. Damn sure they will end only in the last page.. Such a nice book. Never read abt history in such a form. Excuse me bookies ( see my first line).
Recently read - Dark room by R.K. Narayanan. Good one in simple english, abt a middle class family and how a woman survives controlling her aspirations, under a man.
Reading - Great Escapes - edited by Ruskin Bond. Starting is good but shall c how it moves......
In one of my previous posting, i remember saying there is a bug in MS WORD. Got cleared now that it is not a bug.....
=rand(99,200). This is used to fill the pages . When we create a template in MS Word and want to see how it looks after entering some text, u can very well use this command to fill the pages.,
So this is not a bug. Still more, came to know that u cant create folder by these names: con, aux, prn, nul.
They are predefined system variables started in DOS version 1.0. Each has got a meaning.
con for console, aux for auxillary devices, nul for null device and prn for printer. I doubt the last.
Hats off to Microsoft. I really admire their products even with bugs revolving.........
Writing after a long gap. Got time to write....
I send morning greetings to all via mail and my friends do respond for the same. One day one of my friend told me, instead of sending as a simple wish message, make something different.
It makes sense... Y not we can give some information to others as a general booster. Started sending mails with some information. Got some good responses 2.
Happiness added when one of my friend told that he did save my mails to be read later... Just a moral support or ncouragement u can say to continue my work.
Thanks pals.

Here I continue.....
Time to leave
A first batch moved in Jeep at 4pm. Then the next trip in which I was present. We reached Talguppa and took a bus to Sathara (some 10 km from this place). From there to Shimoga city in another bus. Had dinner over there. Took a train where again problem prompted ou.
The TT needs a female passenger. We cajoled him but in vain. There was some mismatch in tickets. Kripa, another friend got and caught into it. We showed him as against his name alone sex was written as female. Somehow the problem got solved.
Reached Banglore at 5 and then to my room at 6 am the next day. A wonderful experience.....:-) Thanks to Anitha and my friend Satheesh for making me available in the trip.

The story took place some time back and revolved around a young lad
Named Sam. Sam at that time was working as a programmer, in a small IT company
located in
Sam's company was requested to work OT in order to meet a deadline due
tomorrow. By the time everything was done, it was already past 1 am and Sam was
the last person left in the office. He was left wondering whether there were
still any bus services at this hour. He decided to try his luck and
quickly tidied up the office, locked up and rushed towards the bus stop. The bus
stop was situated by a small narrow road with dense forestation
surrounding the area. Sam waited for about 20 minutes and was about to make his way
to the main road to catch a cab when a double deck bus appeared from
nowhere. He hesitantly waved it down, boarded the bus and the only person he saw
on the same bus was a frail ghastly looking old woman. The old woman was
dressed in white attire. Sam felt uneasy upon seeing her and was about
to go up to the upper deck when a voice ranged out in Cantonese, "Young
man, don't go upstairs. upstairs dangerous." It was the old woman.
Her comment sent a chill through Sam's bones and he figured that the
upper deck might be "dirty".He decided to heed the old woman's advice and grab
a seat at the lower deck even though he felt uncomfortable by her presence.
It was an agonizing 20 minutes journey before Sam reached his bus stop.
He quickly alighted and turned to steal a quick glance at the old woman,
who stared right back at him by the window. Without further ado, Sam
hastened his pace and was fortunate to reach home safely.
The next day, Sam was requested to work OT and ended up being the last
person left in the office again. It was already past midnight and Sam
was contemplating whether to take a cab home but decided against it in the
end as money was tight. So he made his way to the bus stop again and after
about 20 minutes, the same double deck bus appeared. Sam boarded the bus
and saw the same old woman again. He decided to go to the upper deck
again when the old woman called out to him, "Young man, don't go upstairs.
Upstairs dangerous." Even though, he heard it before, he still felt a
certain fear inside him. To be on the safe side, he reluctantly took a
seat at the lower deck again and reached home with no incidents.
The third day, Sam was asked to do OT again. By now he was feeling
readed and worried as he didn't want to repeat the same process again. But he
obliged nevertheless since it's his livelihood. He was, you guessed it,
the last person left in the office again. He made the same journey to the
bus stop, occasionally checking his back as he walked. The double deck bus
arrived, he boarded it and saw the same old woman again. As he proceeded
to go upstairs, the old woman warned him again, "Young man, don't go
up stairs. Upstairs dangerous." Sam was fed up with the old woman by now and
decided to go upstairs even though he was feeling a bit scared. He saw no one
else when he reached the upper deck and slowly made his way to the back of
the bus and sat down. Sam's heart began pounding away as he waited anxiously
for something to happen. After 20 minutes, with nothing happening, Sam
wen t downstairs to confront the old woman and asked her why she kept saying
it's dangerous upstairs. The old woman turned, stared at him and replied,
"Young man, don't go upstairs. Upstairs dangerous. Upstairs got no bus driver."

It was a sudden opening for me when my friend asked me to join this trip. My plan was to move 2
Met the friends. It was a small gathering where there was a small introduction between us in the entrance. Made a move to Shimoga by 11.30pm. Reached the destination at 5am the next day and had a small break there.
Moving round here and there, finally got a bus train (I shud say so...) to Talaguppa. Dont know where it wud run or not, i was expecting some body to come there to put a board.. "Used by Tippu sultan to move to his guest house - An antique piece". Finally the bustrain busted 2 Talaguppa. It is some 80 km from Shimoga. Nice experience was it, when it stopped at unseen places in between. The climate was so good and upparwala started drizzling in b/w. Finally it haulted at Talaguppa at 10am. We had a small breakfast.
Then came the Safari trip, moving to adventure place called HanneMarudu. We were there at 11 am.
Dumped our luggages with a small trekking uphill and came back all set to swim or float. We were given life jackets( came to know it can float with 100kg). Luckily i was less than that. ..Gym guy na.. and we had a very good float. I suffered in the beginning but cud able to do it after sometime.
Came back to land at 2pm and had a lunch. Then moved to an
Our effort to light the place went in vain as it kept on raining. We gathered some wood ( cud not say it was dry….) for it. Useless!!
Stayed in the tent as it started raining. Enjoyed. ..
Give me a break will be writing the next day adventure sooon.......

The WRONG NUMBER!!!
It was the day of my son's XII results and I was so tensed. I sat beside him while he logged on the website with his registration no.
" Ma" , he screamed in excitement," I scored 1191, with centum in 4 subjects. I cant believe it. "
I kinda became numb in my excitement. My eyes became wet.
I kissed him on his forehead and smiled . My husband had gone out of station on some business trip and my son immediately called him on his cell and told him of the news.
Soon we realized that he stood first in the state. Oh, my joy knew no bounds when Reporters and media persons soon swamped my house for interviews and photos. I was so honored to join him in the snaps.
I wanted to call my "wrong-number-friend to tell him the news......I was so excited.
He was someone whom I have known for more than 20 years.
I still do not remember when we became friends, but certainly cannot forget the first day he called me when I blasted him for giving me so many wrong calls.....after that he had called up a week later asking apology, for he had now got the right no of his friend whom he wanted to talk to .We spoke for an hour that day...even without knowing each other's names.Though he kept pestering me to reveal my name I never did and so he kept a name...Sweety. I used to get so shy whenever he called me 'Sweety'. I was doing first year of BSc. Maths then, and he was a Computer Engineering student.
From then he used to call me very often . We almost discussed everything ..
By the final year of my college, we probably we were in love, but I had been cautious. I was in a dilemma whether to tell him. But what if he was of a different religion? Do I have the courage to talk to my parents about it?
........all these questions ran through my mind.
I decided I'll not talk to him thereafter. When he called next time I lied to him I that I was going to
I never called .......
A couple of months later my marriage got fixed with a guy of my parent's choice. I was not happy but I did not complain; rather accepted it as an obedient daughter. At times I felt I missed my wrong- number- friend.......
My hubby was a moody person; I have hardly spent any good time with him- but he was genuine indeed and never bothered my personal space. After 2 years we had a boy...Yet,I was not very happy with my married life...One day I happened to browse through my diary and found I still had my old friend's office phone no that he had given me. I dialed it and spoke with him. He said he was married and got a kid too. I was happy for him though in the bottom of the heart I felt bad that I could not marry him.
>From then I used to occasionally call him on that number. I never gave him mine as I felt that would put me in trouble...
And till today I almost shared everything with him including my relationship with my hubby.....today I was so happy and I wanted to call him.
Just then I got a call.
"Your husband met with an accident and died on the spot"
I banged the phone down. I broke. I did not call my friend.....I somehow started feeling guilty. I have never tried to talk to him properly when he was alive or moved close with him....
I felt I had been a bad wife........
A couple of years passed and one day my son brought home a Bengali girl and said they wanted to get married. I got them married as I did not want my son to go through what I did.
I decided to give my son his father's room and started clearing it. There was a phone book. I gently opened it to find, " Wrong no Sweety -26538887"
God always puts the right numbers together. Its we who interpret it wrong!!!
